After four years of Annelise’s’ egg and nut allergy, today is your day to find out if your egg allergy is getting better. What will happen today is we make you one scrambled egg, and you eat it in the presence of the doctor.
Once the egg is consumed, you will be under observation to see if you react negatively to the egg. You will be observed for 2 to 2.5 hours
So Annelise spent approximately three hours at the doctor’s office and was released with a clean bill of health and the diagnosis of no longer having an allergy to eggs. What great news!!! Now she can enjoy all types of desserts and breakfast meals with the rest of us.
But this short celebration was short-lived. It seems Anne’s body was fighting the allergy until her body could resist no longer, and she ended up with excessive swelling. Her egg allergy was still present. We called the doctor and were instructed to bring her to the hospital.
While at work, daddy received a phone call from Mara that you had an allergic reaction to the egg. She noted all the information that I mentioned earlier, so it seems you had a delayed response. Daddy left work immediately to get to the hospital to be with his little girl. By the time I arrived, the doctors had given you a triple dose of Benadryl which cleared you up. You did fall asleep from the drugs, but you were fine in the end.
