the-scariest-moment-of-our-lives

Kids, this has been one of the most scariest and stressful moments of mommy & daddy’s lives since you two were born. This is an evening that we will never forget. Being parents to the both of you is one of the most fulfilling aspects of our lives yet its the most stressful. Since you were both born its our job to make sure that the both of you are safe…ALWAYS SAFE. Its a 24hour a day, 7 day a week job that your safety is of the most importance. No matter how much we tried or try it seems there’s always that one moment that gets by and reeks havoc on our home.

That unexpected moment found its way into our home tonight. We had the misfortune of Tyler falling. Falling down 15 stairs down to the ground floor of the basement. After putting the Air-Conditioner on for “Shashi” the both you followed me downstairs. As we made our way up the stairs Anne was having some trouble getting to the top. I picked up her and placed her on the top floor. Tyler decided to shut off the lights and lost his footing. As mommy yelled out I turned around and saw you fall.

Once I saw you drop I ran after you. As I ran towards you all I could hear is the tumbling sound of something falling down the stairs. As the sound enters my ears and processes that something is falling I realize its You, Tyler. Your tiny, little fragile body falling and there is nothing that mommy or I can do. My vision as I ran towards the stairs turned to tunnel vision. As I made my way towards the stairs and jumped down a few stairs and made my way down I could see you tumbling and twisting one stairs 4, 3, 2 and now your face is in direct line with the floor. You skipped stair number 1 and you made impact with your face first.

Once I made it to you, you let off the loudest cry you ever had. This was the best sound in the world. Hearing you cry meant your alive. It meant your in pain so you can feel pain. These were all good signs. We examined you quickly to make sure nothing was broken. As daddy examined you I noticed and felt two additional bumps to the the “goose-egg” you had on your forehead. Once I noticed this It was a “much” needed ride to the hospital. You were going regardless but we wanted you to calm down. But bnow that there was potential head-trauma there was no room to calm you down. On our way to South Shore Hospital.

Initial examination the Doctor was concerned that your were not crying. You were way to calm. This initial reaction from the doctor was concerning to us. I believe he felt you suffered from some sort of brain injury hence you weren’t crying. Because why else wouldn’t a 2 year ld be crying if he fell down 15 stairs. The other issue was your right-leg. For whatever reason your leg was not responsive to the doctor pushing on it. Once the nurse asked the doctor if it would be alright to start an I.V.. The doctor responded yes. Once the needle penetrated your arm…BOY! Did you scream. The doctor was happy to hear that scream. Mommy tried to calm you down and started to rub your right leg and you reacted which was a good thing.

The next step was to send you to CT Scan and Xray to make sure your neck was not broken or fractured in any way. The CT-Scan was to assure the doctors that there was no bleeding in the brain. It all worked our great. You walked away from this horrible accident with only a few bumps on the head. We slept the rest of the night at the hospital as the doctors checked on you throughout the night. In the morning you ate a little but and you went to play in the play-area of the childrens hospital. Once y ou started playing we knew you were alright. Here are somoe of the photos of you sleeping and playing. W are so happy you are OK, Ty. We love you so much. You bring us so much joy to me and mommy. Love you Tyler.
